X8 Fixed-Wing UAS

Skywalker X8 Airframe Platform | Cube Orange Autopilot | Long-Range Telemetry | 6S Li-Ion Power System

The X8 Fixed-Wing UAS is a professionally integrated electric flying-wing platform built around the proven Skywalker X8 airframe. Combining a high-strength fiberglass-composite airframe with a U.S.-integrated Cube Orange flight controller and ArduPilot-based autopilot system, the X8 is designed to provide a stable, efficient and highly configurable platform for long-endurance fixed-wing operations.

With a 2.12-meter wingspan, approximately 80 dm² of wing area, and an efficient electric propulsion system, the X8 is optimized for stable low-speed flight and extended airborne operations. Its reinforced composite structure and carbon-fiber wing spars provide a robust platform for repeated field deployment while maintaining a practical balance between durability and weight.

Integrated Flight Control & Avionics

At the heart of the system is a Cube Orange flight controller, integrated and configured by Dominion Drones with the ArduPilot flight-control stack. The system is paired with an RFD-900 / RFD-900x 900 MHz long-range telemetry modem, providing a dedicated telemetry and command/data link for supported operations.

The integrated avionics architecture allows the X8 to serve as a flexible foundation for navigation, autonomous flight missions, telemetry, payload integration and future system expansion.

Efficient Electric Propulsion

The X8 uses a 100% electric propulsion system, eliminating the need for gasoline or other combustion fuel. The propulsion package combines a high-performance brushless motor, heavy-duty 80A ESC, and folding pusher propeller.

The folding propeller reduces aerodynamic drag when the motor is not under power and complements the X8's efficient flying-wing configuration, making the platform well suited for extended fixed-wing flight.

Long-Endurance Power System

The aircraft is powered by a high-density 6S Li-Ion flight battery system, designed to maximize energy efficiency and airborne endurance.

Depending on aircraft configuration, payload, environmental conditions and flight profile, the system is designed to support 2+ hours of flight endurance per battery.

Robust Composite Airframe

The X8 airframe features a high-strength fiberglass-composite fuselage with reinforced carbon-fiber wing spars. The 2.12-meter wingspan and 790 mm fuselage length provide a large and aerodynamically efficient platform while maintaining a practical transport footprint.

The flying-wing configuration offers excellent aerodynamic efficiency and stable low-speed handling, while the approximately 80 dm² wing area supports efficient glide performance and extended loiter operations.

Modular UAS Platform

Rather than being limited to a single mission profile, the X8 is designed as a configurable fixed-wing UAS platform. Its integrated avionics and spacious airframe architecture provide a foundation for additional mission equipment, sensors and payload systems, subject to the aircraft's weight, balance and power limitations.

The system is supplied as a pre-integrated UAS package and is prepared for final field assembly, configuration and pre-flight checks by the customer. This approach allows operators and integrators to adapt the aircraft to their specific operational requirements while retaining a standardized core flight-control architecture.

Ground Control & Launch System

The X8 Fixed-Wing UAS can be configured with a dedicated ground control and launch package designed for field deployment, long-range telemetry operations and fixed-wing launch support. The complete ground segment combines a rugged dual-screen tactical Ground Control Station, redundant handheld control capability, a long-range elevated antenna system and a dedicated UAV catapult launcher.

Tactical Ground Control Station

The optional Ground Control Station is built around the Foxtech GS-75U Dual-Screen Tactical GCS, providing a dedicated field workstation for mission planning, aircraft monitoring and ground-control operations.

The system features dual 13.3-inch Full HD sunlight-readable displays with up to 1,000 nits brightness, providing improved visibility during outdoor and high-ambient-light operations.

The GCS runs Windows 10/11 with Mission Planner pre-installed and configured by Dominion Drones. The system can be delivered with the required flight-control software, configuration files and system settings preloaded to streamline deployment and operator setup.

Long-Range Ground Communications

For extended-range operations, the GCS incorporates a hardwired RFD-900 ground modem connected to a 6-meter telescoping antenna mast.

The elevated antenna system can be configured with high-gain directional patch or Yagi antennas, providing an optimized ground-to-air telemetry link for line-of-sight operations. Under suitable environmental, RF and regulatory conditions, the system is designed to support telemetry ranges of 15 km or more.

Dual Handheld Controllers

The system can optionally include two paired Skydroid H30 handheld smart controllers, providing an additional manual control interface for the aircraft.

The controllers feature physical dual-axis gimbals and configurable switches, allowing operators to maintain direct manual flight-control capability and provide manual override when required.

A dual-controller configuration can also support operational workflows in which different personnel are responsible for aircraft control, mission supervision or payload-related functions, subject to the aircraft's configured control architecture.

Fixed-Wing Catapult Launch System

For operations where conventional hand launching is impractical, the X8 can be equipped with a dedicated Skywalker 5 kg UAV Catapult Launcher.

The launcher uses a lightweight aerospace aluminum-alloy folding launch rail, providing a balance between field portability and structural rigidity.

Parameter Specification
Launcher Type Fixed-Wing UAV Catapult Launcher
Rail Material Aerospace aluminum alloy
Deployed Length 2.5 m
Folded Length 1.1 m
Rated Aircraft Takeoff Weight Up to 5.0 kg
Configuration Foldable / field-deployable

The compact folded configuration allows the launch rail to be transported together with the aircraft and ground-control equipment, while the 2.5-meter deployed rail provides a dedicated launch path for compatible fixed-wing aircraft.

Integrated Field Deployment Package

The Ground Control & Launch package can be configured as an integrated field system, combining:

  • Foxtech GS-75U Dual-Screen Tactical GCS

  • Dual 13.3-inch FHD sunlight-readable displays

  • Windows 10/11 operating environment
